Saturday, June 13th at 1:00 pm – Chapter meeting, educational program / demonstration at Space #201 in the Valley West Mall* Newcomers are welcome to attend!
We will be discussing practical woodturning gouge techniques
and angles with an interactive demonstration element. Doors will open at noon with the program starting at
1:00 PM
The leaders of the demonstration are Duane Groenenboom, Mark Hayes, and Tad Tadlock.
Key Learning Topics:
-Bevel Angles: Discover recommended angles for different woodturning gouges.
-Angle Importance: Learn why the bevel angle affects your cut and safety.
-Troubleshooting: Identify if your tool is sharpened correctly or needs adjustments.
-Technique Review: Correct your stance, tool rest height, and presentation to the wood.
What to bring:
-Challenging Tools: Bring any gouge that gives you trouble while turning.
-Questions: Prepare your specific questions about sharpening and tool control.

We’ll also have our regular Show ‘n Tell where everyone is encouraged to show a recently turned item, big or small, finished or unfinished, and share your turning experience with the members. Because our chapter is made up of a wide variety of member skill levels, Show ‘n Tell will reflect those skill levels. Consider showing some of your work and tell us what you learned while making it.
