Iowa Wood Clubs

Des Moines Woodturners Inc. – AAW Chapter #158
An IRS approved 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization

A group of central Iowa woodturners providing programming and educational opportunities for woodturners of all skill levels and interests.  Monthly demonstration meetings are held from Sept through May on the 2nd Saturday of the month at our location at Valley West Mall in West Des Moines.  Supplier discounts are available to members.

On the 4th Wednesday morning of the month, an informal member networking gathering is facilitated at our Valley West Mall location.  Here, members and guests can exchange information and purchase donated harvested turning wood – all in an informal atmosphere.  These gatherings are held 12 months a year unless the 4th Wednesday falls on a holiday.

Basic Woodturning classes are also offered and occasional special demonstrations and hands-on workshops are available.  New members and guests welcomed at all regular monthly meetings.

See our Upcoming Meetings & Events page.

You can also see us at the Iowa State Fair on the 2nd floor North in the wood carving, woodturning and woodworking area of the three-story Cultural Center located just east of the KCCI Stage and across from the Mid-American Energy building and wind generator.
Our members provide interactive woodturning demonstrations throughout the day and our Chapter sells donated practical day-to-day items our members have created from re-purposed, fallen trees.  Stop by and say “HI”.
